Applying to Town: All-Virtual Process for 2021-22

Creating new ways to connect.

Admissions process for 2021-22: a design thinking challenge.

We have been excited to reimagine Admissions this year, finding new ways to introduce you to Town while prioritizing your family's and our community's health. Because new challenges require creative solutions, we looked to design thinking concepts to help inform our approach to a completely online Admissions process. Like our students and teachers, we are never "finished" learning or refining our work. We will continue to reflect and iterate as we go, considering you our partners in designing a personal, equitable, and flexible Admissions process to help us get to know each other. We always encourage you to: Talk to us! Ask us questions! Contact us any time at

Applying to Town.

Our online application for 2021-22 is now available. After completing your application, you will be able to use your parent portal to complete all the steps for your child's application.

Our application deadline for the 2021-22 school year is November 20, 2020.

Throughout the coming months, we will will offer different ways to help you "try on Town" as you consider your child's next steps as a learner and community member. We invite you to connect with our community online, and through interactive special events with parent, student, and alumni/ae ambassadors.

Our stance on testing during a pandemic: Town will not require or accept standardized testing for students of any age during this Admissions season. We understand that all families are experiencing unique stresses during this time. We also believe that consistently equitable testing circumstances are not possible during the continuing COVID-19 outbreak. We look forward to learning about our applicants from their families and their teachers, as well as through direct engagement with the students through age-appropriate virtual meetings.

Getting to Know Your Child: Virtual Meeting, Teacher Recommendations, and Your Reflections

Getting to know your child through multiple lenses.

We can’t wait to meet your child! Our developmentally appropriate, brief virtual meeting with your child to gauge school readiness is designed based on our faculty’s expertise around how children interact most successfully in a virtual setting. For younger children, this will be a brief Zoom call that is play/conversation based. For older grades, we may invite select teachers to join to administer specific assessments such as math and reading/writing. We will communicate with families in advance of the session to help children feel as comfortable as possible.

We will also work to know your child through multiple lenses including examples of their latest artwork, stories, or building projects and insights from the people who know them best: teacher recommendations (from current and past years) and parent reflections.

Testing is not required and will not be used as part of our applicant evaluation this year.
