Applying to Town: All-Virtual Process Through Fall 2021

Creating new ways to connect.

Virtual Admissions: a design thinking challenge.

We have been excited to reimagine our Admissions process in a virtual space over the past year, finding new ways to introduce you to Town while prioritizing your family's and our community's health. Because new challenges require creative solutions, we looked to design thinking concepts to help inform our approach to a completely online Admissions application process with future opportunities for in-person visits.

We currently anticipate that our Admissions events and appointments will remain virtual this fall, to support health and safety for unvaccinated young applicants and students at Town, and we hope to offer in-person visits early in 2022. Like our students and teachers, we are never "finished" learning or refining our work. We will continue to reflect and iterate as we go, considering you our partners in designing a personal, equitable, and flexible Admissions process to help us get to know each other. We always encourage you to: Talk to us! Ask us questions! Contact us any time at

Applying to Town.

We are accepting applications on a rolling basis for 2021-22, and our application for 2022-23 will be live in mid-August. After completing your application, you will be able to use your parent portal to complete all the steps for your child's application.

Throughout the coming months, we will offer different ways to help you "try on Town" as you consider your child's next steps as a learner and community member. We invite you to connect with our community online, and through interactive special events with parent, student, and alumni/ae ambassadors.

Inquire or Apply

Inquire and apply online.

We encourage you to make use of our online inquiry and application forms (our streamlined application takes just a few minutes to complete).

Parent Conversation

Parent conversation.

Admissions Director Debbie Ashe invites you to have an informal chat this spring or summer; complete an inquiry to schedule with her. If you meet with Debbie Ashe this spring for a parent conversation, we consider this portion of your application process complete for the fall! You are welcome to schedule a follow-up check-in at any time.

Getting to Know Your Child: Virtual Meeting, Teacher Recommendations, and Your Reflections

Getting to know your child through multiple lenses.

We can’t wait to meet your child! Our developmentally appropriate, brief virtual meeting with your child to gauge school readiness is designed based on our faculty’s expertise around how children interact most successfully in a virtual setting. For younger children, this will be a brief Zoom call that is play/conversation based. For older grades, we may invite select teachers to join to administer specific assessments such as math and reading/writing. We will communicate with families in advance of the session to help children feel as comfortable as possible.

We will also work to know your child through multiple lenses including examples of their latest artwork, stories, or building projects and insights from the people who know them best: teacher recommendations (from current and past years) and parent reflections.

Testing is not required and will not be used as part of our applicant evaluation this year.
