Hello, and welcome to Town!
We are wrapping up a fantastic school year of in-person learning as well as a redesigned Admissions season featuring new ways to meet and engage with prospective families (click here for an overview of our reopening planning from the fall, and follow Town on Instagram to see us in action). You may submit an application any time online, and we have reimagined our process to bring Town's hallmark personal, equitable, and flexible approach to a virtual setting. We’re looking forward to getting to know you and your child – and helping you get to know us – through a safe, welcoming, and transparent admissions process focused on our applying families' needs and questions.
Yes, that “getting to know each other” process looks a little different right now because now we need to put your family’s health and our community’s well-being front and center. So, we’ll engage with one another at a safe distance, online, to share information and questions. After all, 540 East 76th Street is only a building –our teachers, staff, students, and families create the wonderful learning community that makes Town, Town.
A big question on your minds, especially if you are searching for a school for your young child, may be the news reports about schools doing child assessment or testing via Zoom calls. This will not be Town's approach. We understand that a Zoom session with your child might often be just a "blurry snapshot." So, we are expanding how we get to know applying students. Yes, we will meet your child briefly on Zoom, but we will also invite you to share your insights in a number of ways: in our conversations, in written narratives, examples of your children's artwork or their latest grand design in blocks or LEGOs, or even in short videos, if you’d like. More details will be in your application portal.
I hope to get the chance to meet and talk with you soon!

P.S. Looking for some educator-approved resources to extend learning and engagement at home? We are pleased to share with you this Town-curated list of optional online educational enrichment resources, should your children be interested in engaging with more reading, math, or online cultural/museum experiences. These are not intended as part of a daily distance learning program, but as optional, fun enrichment activities, in alignment with Town’s curriculum and approach.
